Objectives:

 

• Creating varieties of sweet cherry, sour cherry and walnut with resistance to low winter temperatures and spring frosts during flowering period, with genetic resistance to diseases and pests, reduced vigor, high productivity, high quality fruit, with different periods of maturation, self-fertile.

• Collection and preservation germplasm fund of sweet cherry, sour cherry, peach and walnut, to be used as starting material in improving varieties.

• Establishment of fruit varieties in areas of high species favorability apple, pear, apricot, plum, sweet cherry, sour cherry and walnut.

• Determine the main characters genetics and heredity study qualitative and quantitative.

• Hereditary transmission of physiological and biochemical characteristics expressed phenotypically, which increases resistance to stress.

• Background genotyping strategies for improvement.

• Genetic control of tree characteristics and improvement in correlation with entry speeding bearing.

Varieties approved

Cherry varieties were obtained by artificial hybridization and clonal selection.

1.     CETAŢUIA

Origin: Romania, Iasi SCDP;

Tree: medium vigor, spur type displayed port;
Fruit size: medium (5.9 g);
Shape: flattened kidney-shaped ;
Epidermis: dark red to black at full maturity ;
Peduncle: short and thick, medium resistant to detachment, without suppuration;
The pulp: semipietroasă, almost crisp, juicy, dark reddish tinted red juice;
Taste: pleasant, moderately sweet, slightly acidic, with 16 % DM;
The pulp: medium (6.5 % of the weight of the fruit ), semiaderent the pulp;
Age of baking the last decade of May
Productivity: Early variety, bears fruit abundantly and consistently;
General Likes: medium resistance to Anthracnose and Monilia desease and good
resistance to frost and drought. Intended mainly for fresh consumption.

 

 

2.     Catalina

Origin: Romania, Iasi SCDP;
Tree:

Fruit: Size: medium to large (6.8 to 7.8 g);
Form: heartshape elongated
Skin: bright red, dark red at full maturity;
Peduncle:
medium to large length, medium thickness, medium resistant to detachment;
Pulp: semifirm, juicy, red;
Taste: pleasant, moderately sweet, slightly acidity;
Stone
: medium size (6.5% by weight of the fruit);
Ripening time: the first ten days of June;
Productivity: bears abundantly and constantly having superior productivity than  varieties with
maturation the same time;

 

3.     Radu

Origin: Romania, Iasi SCDP;
Tree: medium vigor;
Fruit size: medium (6.6 g);
Shape: kidney-shaped, with the point pistilar deepened;
Skin: dark red;
Peduncle: short and medium thickness, the posting of fruit not fester;
Pulp: dark red, firm, juicy, intensely colored dark red juice;
Taste: very good, sweet, slightly acidity;
Stone
: small (4% of the weight of the fruit), adherent to the flesh;
Ripening time: in mid-June (12-18);
Productivity: Early variety, bears abundantly (11-13 t / ha) and constant;
General assessment: good resistance to frost, drought, monilia and fruit cracking.

Medium resistance to Anthracnose. The fruits are for fresh consumption and processing.

 

4.     OANA

Origin: Romania, Iasi SCDP;
Tree: medium vigor;
Fruit: size: large (7.6 g);
Shape: Round flattened point pistilar deepened;
Skin: dark red, medium resistant to cracking;
Peduncle: length and medium thickness with suber fruit now and posting it off easily without suppuration;
Pulp: dark red, firm, juicy, intensely colored dark red juice;
Taste: good, moderately sweet, slightly acidic;
Stone: medium (5% of the weight of the fruit), adherent to the flesh;

5.     ANDREI

Origin: Romania, Iasi SCDP;
Tree: medium vigor;
Fruit: size: large to very large ( 8.0 to 8.4 g);

Form: cordiforme elongated, slightly flattened dorso - ventrally flat tip;
Epidermis: dark red, medium resistant to cracking;
Peduncle: short, averaging 29 mm in length, medium thickness, and the posting of fruit detaches easily without suppuration;
The pulp: medium red, firm, juicy, sweet emphasized, pleasant acidic, highly palatable, easily detach kernel;
Taste: good, sweet, slightly acidic;
The seed: high with 0.6 g elliptical middle adherent to the flesh;
Age of baking: the second decade of June;
Productivity: Early variety, bears fruit abundantly (12-14 t / ha) and constant ;

6. COCIU
Origin: Romania, Iasi SCDP;
Tree: medium vigor;
Fruit: size: large ( 8.0 to 8.4 g);
Form: reniform, flattened dorsoventral slightly elongated peak;
Epidermis: dark red, almost black at full maturity ;
Peduncle: the long and medium thickness ( 35 mm long), yellowish green , glabrous , with suber present between stem and fruit ;
Pulp: red to dark red, firm, crisp, with average juiciness, sweet widened slightly acidified with intensely colored red juice;
Taste: good, very sweet, slightly acidic and aroma;
Seed: medium ( 0.4-0.5 g ), medium elliptical, adherent to the flesh;
Age of baking: the second decade of June;
Productivity: Early variety, bears fruit abundantly (12-13 t / ha) and constant;
General Likes: medium flowering , good resistance to frost, drought and average specific diseases cherry. The fruits are fresh consumption and industrialization.

 

7.    MIHAI

Origin: Romania, Iasi SCDP;
Tree: medium vigor;
Fruit size: large (7.0-8.0 g);
Form: cordiforme slightly flattened.
Epidermis : red brown, black at full maturity.
Peduncle: long, moderately thick, green branch and got very good fruit and the juice detachment does not fester.

Pulp: red - medium, crisp, juicy, sweet taste and medium acidity middle;

Taste: good, sweet, slightly acidic;
Seed: medium size (0.55 g ), medium elliptical, with an average ratio between the weight of the fruit and kernel weight;

8.    AMAR MAXUT

Origin: Romania, Iasi SCDP;
Tree: medium vigor;

Fruit size: large bitter varieties (4.5 g);

Form: cordiforme typical;
Epidermis: shiny black;
Peduncle: medium length fruit detaches easily without suppuration;
Pulp: intensely colored, juicy, dark red juice, firming average 21 % DM;
Taste: pleasant, bitter, aromatic fine;
Seed: small semiaderent;
Age of baking: third decade of June;
Productivity: Early variety, bears fruit abundantly and consistently ;
General Likes: resistant to frost, drought tolerant  at Antracnoză and Monilia desease and early flowering. It is an excellent variety for industrialization ( jams, liqueurs , juices ).

 

9.    ALEX

Origin: Romania, Iasi SCDP;
Tree: medium vigor;
Fruit size: large fruiting early years ( 8.3 to 11.7 g);
Form: cordiforme, slightly flattened, flattened dorso ventral flat tip.
Epidermis: dark red, medium thickness with appealing luster;

Peduncle : length and thickness middle green with suber present between stem and fruit
Pulp: red - medium, crisp, juicy, sweet taste and medium acidity middle ;
Taste: good, sweet, slightly acidic;
Seed: medium to large (0.6 g ), elliptical middle adherent to pulp .

10. JOSIF

Origin: Romania, Iasi SCDP;
Tree: medium vigor;
Fruit size: big in the early years of fruitfulness ( 9.0 g);
Form: cordiforme - obtuse, slightly flattened.
Epidermis : dark red and almost black at full maturity with reddish reflexes.
Peduncle : long, moderately thick, slightly thickened towards fruit, green and reddish brown on sunny side, very well caught the branch and fruit juice and the detachment does not fester.
Pulp: red - medium, crisp, juicy, sweet taste and medium acidity middle;

Taste: good, sweet, slightly acidic;
Seed: medium size (0.5 g ), elliptical Middle East ratio between fruit weight and pulp weight.

12. PAUL

Origin: Romania , Iasi SCDP ;
Tree: medium vigor ;
Fruit: size : large ( 9.1 to 9.9 g);
Form : reniform ;
Epidermis : bright red on yellow background ( bicolor ) .
Peduncle : the long and medium thickness with suber present between stem and fruit, well caught by branch and fruit , and the juice detachment not fester .
The pulp is creamy , firm , crisp , juicy, semi-sweet , pleasantly acidic , refreshing juice little colored stone comes off easily ;
Taste : good , moderately sweet, slightly acidic ;
Seed: large , with 0.6 g, circular , slightly wrinkled surface .

13. ANDA
Origin: Romania , Iasi SCDP ;

Form : reniform slightly elongated towards the tip ;
Epidermis : whitish-yellow uniform , yellow - intense on the sunny side ;

The pulp is creamy , rocky , crisp, juicy, medium acidity , taste semi-sweet , mild flavor.
Taste : good , moderately sweet, slightly acidic ;

16. MARGO

Epidermis: yellow - whitish, uniform, sometimes the sun gets intense yellow with a slight reddish tint.
Peduncle : long , medium thick , yellowish green with suber present between stem and fruit.
The pulp is cream-colored, large firm, crisp, juicy, semi-sweet flavor, low acidity, smooth flavor.
Taste : good , sweet, slightly acidic flavor fine ;

23. AMAR GALATA

General Likes : resistant to frost, drought, and average bean monilia desease. Flowering late. It is an excellent variety for food especially for marmalades and candied fruit .

24. GEORGE

Fruit: Size : medium to large ( 6.7 to 7.8 g);

Epidermis : red , glossy , resistant to cracking ;

Seed : mijlociciu ( 6% of the weight of the fruit ) , adherent to the flesh ;

General Likes : good resistance to frost, drought and specific diseases cherry . It's the sort of cherry later known so far. Fruits are intended for fresh consumption and industry.
